POWER TRENDS INTRODUCES
NEW 12V AND 24V BUS
SURFACE-MOUNT POWER MODULES

Warrenville, IL January, 1998 -- Power Trends, Inc. has just introduced four new series of 12V and 24V bus power modules with output currents from 5A to 20A. The PT6620 (12V input) and PT6650 (24V input) can supply output currents of 7A and 5A respectively. The PT7720 (12V input) and PT7750 (24V input) can supply output currents of up to 20A. These products are ideal for distributed power applications utilizing 12 or 24V bus architectures. With efficiencies between 85% and 90% (VO=5V), all four of these products feature output inhibit function, remote sense, and over-temperature shutdown and are available in surface mount configurations.

The PT6620 has a maximum output current of 7A and is available with output voltages from 1.5 to 9V. The PT6650 has a maximum output current of 5A and is available with output voltages from 2.5 to 12V. The output voltage of both products is also adjustable with a single external resistor. The PT6620 and PT6650 are housed in a 14 pin SIP package and are available in vertical through-hole (1.7"x1.2"x0.38") and horizontal through-hole and surface-mount (1.7"x1.3"x0.38") configurations. In OEM quantities (1,000 units), the price for the PT6620 or PT6650 is $17.50. Samples are available now.

The PT7720 has a maximum output current of 20A and the PT7750 has a maximum output current of 19A. The output voltage of both the PT7720 and PT7750 are 5-bit programmable from 1.3V to 7.6V and 2.5 to 12V respectively. Both product series also include current boosters which can be run in parallel to boost the output current in increments of 15A. The PT7748 is the current booster for the PT7720 series and the PT7747 is the current booster for the PT7750 series. The PT7720 and PT7750 and their current boosters are housed in 27 pin SIP packages and are available in vertical through-hole (3"x1.5"x.6") and horizontal through-hole and surface-mount (3"x1.9"x0.6") configurations. In OEM quantities (1,000 units), the price for the PT7720 is $33.00, the PT7748 current booster is $31.00, the PT7750 is $36.50, and the PT7747 current booster is $34.50. Samples are also available now.
