POWER TRENDS INTRODUCES ±12V/15V ISRs

Batavia, IL -- Power Trends, Inc. has just introduced a pair of new Integrated Switching Regulators (ISRs) that convert +5V to either ±12V or ±15V. The PT5020 (positive to negative) and PT5040 (boost) series ISRs make the job of providing plus and minus voltage rails easy and affordable for all types of analog and communication circuits.

The PT5020 series ISRs are positive input/negative output converters that accept input voltages from +4.5V to +7V. They use a “buck-boost” topology with a switching frequency of 1MHz. Only one output capacitor (100µF) is required for proper operation. Available laser-trimmed output voltages include -3V, -5V, -9V, -12V, and -15V with output currents as high as 1.0 amp. Standard features include internal over current, short circuit, and over temperature protection.

The PT5040 series ISRs are step-up (boost) converters that accept input voltages from +4.5V to +11V. With a switching frequency of 650 kHz, they offer conversion efficiency as high as 85%. Only one output capacitor (100µF) is required for proper operation. Available laser-trimmed output voltages include +12V and +15V with output currents as high as 1.0 amp. Standard features include internal over current and over temperature protection.

Both the PT5020 and PT5040 series offer flexible mechanical configurations with vertical through-hole, horizontal through-hole, or surface mount 3-pin SIP packages. Optional heat tabs are also available. Potential applications for these products include powering op amps, D To A converters, ECL, ethernet, or any circuits requiring negative voltage rails. Prices are $10.55 each in OEM quantities (1,000 units).
